“Unfolding an intimate story of co-existance between people, birds and the forest!”
“Unfolding an intimate story of co-existance between people, birds and the forest!”

Gondogram is a village embedded within an expansive bamboo forest in northern Bangladesh, where the boundaries between settlement and ecosystem are fluid. Homes, paths, ponds, and cultivated spaces grow directly from bamboo, forming a shared habitat for human and non-human life.
The film follows the passage of seasons. With the arrival of early summer, migratory birds return to the canopy to nest and raise their young. Their cycles of breeding and survival unfold within the same landscape that sustains human life, shaped by storms, predators, and changing environmental conditions.
Parallel to this, artisan families depend on bamboo harvesting and weaving. Their work is not separate from the forest but embedded within it, forming a system where ecology, livelihood, and inherited knowledge are intertwined. Ritual practices appear throughout the year as quiet, local gestures, acts of memory and belief that reflect a continued relationship between people and landscape rather than symbolic separation from it.
Three interconnected arcs exploring the symbiosis between wilderness, human culture, and spiritual ritual.

Homes, paths, ponds, and cultivated spaces grow directly from bamboo, creating an uninterrupted ecosystem where human living and wildlife nesting occur in identical spaces.
“Gondogram is not a village beside nature, but a single shared environment.”

Generations of families harvest and weave bamboo with quiet precision. Their craft is embedded directly into the lifecycle of the forest, honoring what the earth provides.
“Every fiber bent carries the memory of rain and patience.”

Ritual practices appear throughout the year as gentle, local gestures—acts of memory and belief that reflect a continued bond between people and the living landscape.
“Where prayer ends, accumulated observation begins.”

From early summer arrival to monsoon floods and autumn recovery, the rhythm of the film is shaped by duration, repetition, and the seasonal pulse of northern Bangladesh.
“Meaning emerges through duration and accumulated observation.”
